Home>Latest News>A Family Affair for Signs Express (Croydon)
Signs Express (Croydon) was recently approached by a concerned Police Constable from Croydon Metropolitan Police who wrote to them advising of the imminent council budget cuts which currently are received by The Family Centre, based in Fieldway. The council funding has been supporting the centre and enabling it to provide services in the area which would be otherwise unavailable to local residents.

The Family Centre operates in an area of high deprivation offering a wide range of support, activities and services, including; stay & play sessions for the under 5's, Relate counselling, financial advice, healthy eating classes, lunch clubs, summer projects and even a laundry service.

The concerned PC approached Signs Express (Croydon), along with other local businesses, asking for support towards The Family Centre in order to help the centre remain open to the public despite the huge financial loss it faces.

Specifically, The Family Centre - managed by Julia Weller, were requesting advertising banners from Signs Express (Croydon) to promote the services and activities they have on offer at the centre along with a second banner promoting a monthly police surgery to help the local community. Signs Express (Croydon) was more than happy to support The Family Centre and provide these banners. Richard Worsley, Signs Express (Croydon) owner, commented;

'The Family Centre is a great place for local residents to learn, seek advice, socialise and gain support. When PC Phillips wrote to us advising of the council cut-backs and asking us to donate banners, we were only too happy to help. Centres like this make a real difference to people's everyday life and help enrich the community, it would be a such a shame to see it close down due to lack of funding and would have a negative effect on the area. We wish The Family Centre all the best for the future and hope it can raise the funds required to stay in service.'
